The Return of Slider Phones in 2018

With the launch of Xiamo Mi Mix 3, it marks the return of Slider Phones.
This time though it's not to hide the keypad or a gamepad, just  the front-facing camera. Which kind of put in question the need of the front-facing camera as well.

There was a time not very long ago we had phones that had a rotating camera module. That was Gionee Elife E7 Mini.

Looking at the current trend in smartphone market Oppo and Vivo managed to do the same through a motorized camera module.

Now back to  Xiamo Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2 which do not have a motorized camera module rather they're going to slide the whole back panel to use the front camera.

All that doesn't really sound very effective use of a sliding feature. While Nubia recently completely ditched the front-facing camera by giving a secondary screen on the back of the phone itself.

All this is very much a good example of creating a problem and selling the solution.
No offence all these phones are great and might as well cause a technical revolution by bringing back to life an old-school technology but they also make the device more fragile to day to day life misconducts.
I'm hoping Samsung's Galaxy S10 if it is like what is rumoured will turn the tables in its favour.

Camera Under Display.
Fingerprint under the display.

That's innovation.
