What's Domain Authority and how you can increase it

Domain authority is one of the many factors(yet a very important one) which affects the placement of your website's content in searches.
Although Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) plays a very crucial role in making your content accessible in search results Domain Authority covers an entirely different aspect.
It states a level of importance of the Webpage or website, in turn describing how reliable is the website or webpage.

How to increase your Domain Authority?

  1. Quality Content
  2. Search Engine Optimisation
  3. Internal Linking
  4. High-Quality Backlinks
  5. Regular Updates
  6. Avoid Broken Links
To check your Domain Authority you can head to Moz website and also you can have their addon installed to keep a track of Domain Authority of any webpage you visit.
Domain Authority is also a viable way to research your competition.
You'll always have a better chance over a website with lower Domain Authority compared to your website.

Here's how you can increase the Domain Authority of your blog or website.

1. Write Quality Content.
You see searched only exists because of all the information that is available online. You cannot expect to have thousands of visitors for no content. Also, you cannot expect visitors for some content that makes no sense or isn't good enough compared to others.
You need to have quality content, submit to Google Search console and hope for best.

2. Search Engine Optimization
SEO is something you just have to spend a one-time effort on. Most of the time you don't even have to worry about it. If you're running on Wordpress make sure your theme is properly optimized for Search Crawlers. If you're on Blogspot, there's not much to do but use a proper theme for your blog. You can always switch to the Blogspot theme I designed specifically keeping SEO in mind.

3. Internal Linking
It's pretty much self explanatory. Internal linking refers to cross-linking the blog content wherever possible.
Mostly it reduces the Bounce rate and also helps your users to be on the same page as the writer.

4. Quality Backlinks
It's always a good idea to have backlinks. They're not dead. It affects your search positioning. Not clearly but it does affect it. But be aware not to have backlinks from toxic pages.

5. Regular Updates
There is no reason for a search crawler to crawl a blog that is not being updated. When you're not posting anything you're at a loss of content compared to blogs that are updating.
You lose a place over time. And ultimately the authority. The more content you have better it is.

6. Avoid Broken Links
Broken links are a no go. Use Google Webmaster tool to keep a check on any broken link you might have.
